Executive Coaching – Professional Growth Systems

Executive Coaching

Professional growth through executive coaching

How can you achieve professional growth through executive coaching?  Focused, effective business and executive coaching provides the tools to navigate the rough waters of leadership. The challenge as a leader is to continually push the envelope while confronting problems and the people/processes that create them.

My takeaways from executive coaching are:

  • A much clearer understanding on the distinction between a leader and a manager,
  • Improved communication skills vital to building my team, and
  • The ability to diagnose and use the potential value of team members

We focus on two areas:
  • Confronting and handling executive concerns regarding performance
  • Development of skills as needed

Leaders are expected to identify and handle problems be they competitor moves or internal performance issues.  Not making a decision erodes confidence of followers more than making a wrong decision.  Barriers to decision-making include previous failed decisions, seeing a no-win situation and incomplete data.  Our coaches help you define the problem, examine barriers and put you on a path to a decision.  Then, lessons from the experience are captured to build certainty and improve future decision-making.

Skill building is employed where needed using articles and one-on-one teaching and practicums to raise skills in communications, relationship and team building, data-based decision making, organizational structure, or process improvement among others.

The PGS Coaching Process

Goal Setting

Why are you seeking coaching?  What you want to accomplish/improve?  Your measures of success. Inventory of current issues and level of certainty re. how to proceed on each.

Assessment

Using both a leadership strength inventory and interviews with your peers and subordinates, the status of needed abilities to handle defined problems and reach your goals is assessed and the results shared with you.  Goals are then revised as needed.

Coaching

Sessions of 30-90 minutes weekly or less frequent at your choice are deployed to build skills and develop plans of action to handle problems.  This continues until you feel you are good to proceed on your own which could range from 3 to 12 months at your discretion.

Re-Assessment

Interviews are repeated to affirm that improvements are evident so as to affirm your certainty to continue on with new learnings.
